England coach Gareth Southgate counts on Tammy Abraham

England coach Gareth Southgate counts on Tammy Abraham

Despite his omission from the England national team squad for upcoming Euro 2020 qualifying matches, Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham remains in Gareth Southgate’s plans. The Three Lions boss has admitted that he will count on the 21-year-old, who impressed in the 2018/2029 Championship season with Aston Villa, in the future. The Nigeria target has been producing fine performances with Chelsea at the start of the new Premier League season as well and it is no wonder he is remains on England radar.

Nigeria in search for Odion Ighalo’s successor

After impressing at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, experienced attacker Odion Ighalo said goodbye to the Nigeria national team and international football. The AFCON Golden Boot award winner will be sorely missed in games to come and, as a result, Gernot Rohr is on a quest to find an adequate replacement for the former Premier League attacker.

Seeing that Tammy Abraham added a Nigeria flag to his Instagram profile last month, Nigeria fans believe that the Chelsea striker still has desire to represent the Super Eagles on the international stage. Abraham’s parents are of Nigerian descent and that is probably the main reason why many people believe that the prolific attacker is going to commit his future to the Nigeria national team.

However, Gareth Southgate’s words may persuade Tammy Abraham to change his mind.

    Tammy remains on England radar

England coach Gareth Southgate has named an initial 25-man squad for upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Kosovo, with Tammy Abraham failing to make the cut. The Chelsea rising star has not played for the England national team since November 10, 2017 when the Three Lions played out a goalless draw with Brazil in a friendly, but Southgate has yet to write him off.

Tammy is one of a number of players who have either started the season well or we know well through our junior teams”, Gareth Southgate said at the press conference.

This squad can look very different over the next few months and there is, as I said, in every position real competition and we need that”, he added.

    Tough competition

Over the years Harry Kane has established himself as one of the best attackers in the Premier League. The Tottenham Hotspur striker has been scoring goals for fun in the English top flight ever since he joined the capital club and seeing that Manchester City superstar Raheem Sterling is in the form of his life, it is no surprise Tammy Abraham did not receive a call-up for the forthcoming qualifiers.

Marcus Rashford is yet another forward in Gareth Southgate’s squad. The pacey attacker is expected to play main role in Manchester United’s team in the 2019/2020 season as both Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez joined Serie A outfit Inter in the summer transfer window.

Callum Wilson, who scored 14 goals for Bournemouth in the English elite division last term, made the cut as well, but English football experts believe that Abraham should take his place in the England squad. Regardless of who will be deployed up front against Bulgaria, the Three Lions are likely to keep their 100% record in Euro 2020 qualifiers intact. You should know that England are 4/5 at betway to win both halves.

Back Abraham to score against Sheffield United

Tammy Abraham has been in a fine form at the start of the new Premier League season, with the Super Eagles target scoring a brace in a 3-2 win over Norwich City on Matchday 3. Abraham helped the Blues record their first win of the season and, no doubt, all eyes will be on him when Frank Lampard’s troops take on Sheffield United at their Stamford Bridge.

Seeing that Olivier Giroud is on the twilight of his career, Tammy Abraham is likely to keep his place in the starting XI and we are positive that he is going to prove a handful for Sheffield United defenders on Saturday afternoon. The 21-year-old striker of Nigeria descent is 10/11 at betfair to score against the Blades and we are positive that he is going to extend his goal-scoring run in the Premier League this weekend.
