South Korea vs Germany | Prediction, Betting Tips & Odds

South Korea have qualified for each of the last nine World Cup tournaments but only once have they troubled the latter stages of the tournament.  They have failed at the group stage in three of their last four attempts and it looks likely they could be heading home again after this match. Germany need little introduction and they are the defending champions.  With multiple World Cup wins to their name, the Germans know what it takes to qualify from the group stages of the tournament but cannot afford any mistakes in this final match.

Match Preview

South Korea find themselves in a very tough position heading into the final round of matches in 2018 World Cup Group F.  They know they must win this match and that is not an easy task against one of the favourites to claim the trophy.  South Korea need to summon the spirit of the 2002 World Cup if they are to succeed. Germany did not expect to be in a position where they needed to win their final group match to guarantee their place in the knockout stages of the World Cup.  However, they would always back themselves to defeat South Korea and will come into the match feeling confident about their chances of progressing.

South Korea

South Korea’s opening match was always going to be key to their progress from Group F.  The 1-0 defeat to Sweden in that game came as a big blow and left them with a lot of work to do against Mexico.  Despite improving, South Korea lost 2-1 to Mexico and now have it all to do against the world champions.

Germany

Germany suffered a shock in their opening World Cup match as they went down 1-0 to a good Mexico team.  Perhaps the Germans underestimated their opponents but they could easily have lost by more than the single goal.  Germany fell behind against Sweden in their second game but secured a miraculous comeback to win 2-1 with ten men in added time.

South Korea vs Germany Head to Head

South Korea and Germany have met three times previously, including twice at the World Cup.  Germany came out on top in the group stages of the 1994 World Cup and at the semi-final stage of the 2002 World Cup.  South Korea won the friendly match in 2004.

Odds and Predictions

Both teams come into this match knowing they need to win if they want to have a good chance of progressing to the Round of 16.  However, there is one team which is the overwhelming favourite to get the 3 points they need to qualify and Germany are just 1.22 to win the game. Despite having an outside chance of qualifying, South Korea are out at 11.00 to win the match and the draw is 7.00. Germany know a win by 2 clear goals in this game will be enough to see them qualify for the Round of 16. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see them get what they need against the poorest team in the group.  Germany are 4.33 to win the game by 2 goals. Joachim Low changed his team against Sweden but was forced to introduce Mario Gomez and the striker could get the nod from the start in this match.  The veteran has 31 goals his name for Germany and is  to score at any time in this match.  South Korea will be looking towards Son Heung-min for more inspiration and the Spurs man is  to score at any time.

South Korea vs Germany Top Betting Tip: Germany (2-0)

Germany have not been at their best at this World Cup but they have the talent in their ranks to defeat South Korea.  With a 2-0 win enough to secure their place in the Round of 16, do not be surprised to see Germany produce that exact result come the final whistle.
