Serbia vs Brazil | Prediction, Betting Tips & Odds

Serbia do not have the illustrious history of their opponents but are playing in their second World Cup finals as an independent nation.  They failed to qualify in 2014 and were eliminated at the group stage in 2010 so a win in this game would see history made for Serbia. Brazil are the one team everyone likes to watch at the World Cup and they have had some of the greatest players ever to play the game in their ranks.  However, Brazil suffered humiliation in-front of their own fans at the 2014 World Cup and are hoping to bounce back by winning the tournament in Russia.

    Match Preview

Serbia began their 2018 World Cup in promising fashion and have left themselves with an opportunity to qualify for the knockout stages of the tournament.  However, they cannot afford any slip-ups and must win this game if they are to reach the Round of 16 in Russia. Brazil started slowly but have put themselves in the driving seat for qualification to the next round of the World Cup.  The Brazilian team know they just need to pick up a point from this game to secure their place in the knockout stages but a win would see them finish top of the group.

    Serbia

Serbia enjoyed a great start to their 2018 World Cup campaign, defeating Costa Rica 1-0 thanks to a glorious free-kick.  The Serbs also took the lead early in the game against Switzerland but the Swiss came back with two goals, including a late winner to snatch the points.  It was a disappointing end to the game for Serbia who must lift themselves for this match.

    Brazil

Brazil took the lead in their opening match against Switzerland but failed to build on their start and were pegged back by the Swiss in the second half to finish level at 1-1.  It looked like another frustrating match against Costa Rica until Philippe Coutinho scored his second goal of the tournament in added time and Neymar opened his account late on to seal a 2-0 win.

Serbia vs Brazil Rica Head to Head

Serbia and Brazil have met just once in their history and it was the South American nation which came out on top 1-0 in a 2014 friendly.  Fred scored the only goal of the game but is not involved in this World Cup.

    Odds and Predictions

As would be expected, Brazil come into this match as the big favourites with the bookmakers, priced at 1.50 to win the game.  If they play to their full potential, Brazil will take maximum point but Serbia will be hoping they are below 100% and if so, can take something form the game.  Serbia are 7.50 to win the game and the draw is 4.50. Brazil have failed to convince so far at this World Cup and will be looking to lay down a marker ahead of the knockout stages.  This could be another tough game but Brazil played some good stuff towards the end of the match against Costa Rica and will want more of the same.  You can get 4.33 for Brazil to win the match by a two goal margin. Neymar is the star player of this Brazil team but its Philippe Coutinho who has been delivering the goods in this tournament.  The Barcelona midfielder is 5.50 to score the first goal of the game while Serbia’s greatest goal scoring threat will come from Aleksandar Mitrovic, who is 3.40 to score at any time.

Serbia vs Brazil Top Betting Tip: Brazil (3-1)

Serbia showed enough in the opening exchanges against Switzerland to suggest they could get a goal in this game.  However, Brazil have the greater talent throughout the team and will have enough to win this game and top the group ahead of the knockout stages.
