Poland vs Colombia| Prediction, Betting Tips & Odds

Poland have twice reached the semi-final of the World Cup, doing so in 1974 and 1982 but they failed to make the final on both occasions. Poland finished third in each of those tournaments and would be thrilled if they could repeat that performance in Russia having failed to get beyond the group stage in their last two attempts. Only twice have Colombia gone beyond the group stage at a World Cup, with the best performance coming in 2014 when they reached the quarter-final. Many fans have been tipping Colombia as their outsiders for the 2018 World Cup but they have work to do if they are to match those expectations.

Match Preview

Colombia come into this match as the favourites to take a much needed maximum points from this game. Their performance at the last World Cup remains fresh in the memory and they entertained fans around the globe with some great goals from James Rodriguez. If Colombia can reach the same heights as they did in Brazil, they can win this game. Poland will be looking towards their star striker, Robert Lewandowski to lead them to victory in this match. The Bayern Munich striker was top scorer in European qualifying but is yet to show what he can do on the world stage.  Now is the time for Lewandowski to step up and make the difference in what could be a tight match.

Poland were very disappointing in their opening match against Senegal and deservedly lost the match 2-1. The goals they conceded were poor, with one coming from a deflection and the other as a result of individual errors. The Poles need to lift their game and improve their level of performance throughout the team if they are to get something from this game. The quality of their attacking play left a lot to be desired against Senegal and they must show more urgency.

One early defensive mistake cost Colombia dearly against Japan and having gone one goal down and lost a player to a red card, it was always going to be tough to come back. However, Colombia showed plenty of fight in the first half and deserved their equaliser which came from a free-kick. The Colombian team seemed to tire in the second half and Japan made the extra man count, winning with a headed goal from a corner, which will have disappointed Jose Pekerman.

Poland vs Colombia Head to Head

Poland and Colombia have met on 5 occasions, with Colombia holding the slight advantage having won 3 times to Poland’s 2 victories. Interestingly, both Poland’s wins came back 1980 and 1985 while Colombia have won all 3 of their most recent meetings, the latter of which was in a 2006 friendly.

Odds and Predictions

Colombia are the bookmakers’ favourites to win this game and have the South American team at 2.25 to take all 3 points. Poland know they cannot afford to lose another game or they could be eliminated before their final match. The Poles are the outsiders to win the match at 3.40 and the draw is available at 3.50. Neither Poland or Colombia played close to their full potential in their opening games and the Poles especially will be looking to improve in the attacking third. With both teams knowing they need to win this game, we could see plenty of goals and over 2.5 goals and both teams to score is 2.50. Both teams will be looking towards the talismanic strikers to make the breakthrough in this match. Robert Lewandowski is 4.50 to score first, with Radamel Falcao available at 5.00.

Poland vs Colombia Top Betting Tip: Draw (2-2)

Poland and Colombia will need to put their opening matches behind them and start again in this match. Both have quality players in forward positions but showed their vulnerability in defence in their opening games and we could see a very entertaining match, with little to separate the two teams.

Top Betting Tip: Draw (2-2)
