    NPFL Matchday 3 review

    After half of the matches were postponed in the previous two rounds, only four matches were postponed in Round 3.

    Group A

    Remo Stars welcomed Bendel in their first match of the new season. The first half finished goalless and it was the visitors who scored first in the second half through Charles Omokaro in the 54th minute. The home side managed to save a point with a goal from Victor Mbaoma in the 76th minute. The game ended 1:1.

    Enyimba travelled to Ilorin Township Stadium to play Kwara United for only their second match of the year. The former champions led twice in this game but, in the end, the home side prevailed. Ibrahim Mustapha gave Enyimba the lead in the 16th minute but Segun Alebiosu managed to level the score in the 31st minute.

    In the second half, Enyimba took the lead again in the 58th minute through Joseph Osadiye, but the lead lasted only three minutes. Segun Alebiosu scored his second and Enyimba second in the 61st minute. Mohammed Usman added a third in the 73rd minute to secure a win for Kwara United.

    The game between Enugu Rangers and Sunshine Stars was postponed, as were the Rivers Utd vs Katsina Utd and Lobi Stars vs MFM encounters.

    Wikki Tourists were also involved in their first match of the new season, welcoming Niger Tornadoes to the Pantami Township Stadium. And they won it 2:1 after a very tightly contested match. The home side took the lead in the 46th minute through Aminu Ahmad. They got their second in the 83rd minute when Abba Umar scored. The Niger Tornadoes scored a consolation goal just before the final whistle.

    Group B

    Heartland travelled to face Nasarawa United at the Lafia Township Stadium, looking for their second win in a row. A single goal, scored by Samuel Nnoshiri, was enough to see Heartland through this game and the top of the Group B table, ahead of the El-Kanemi Warriors on goal difference.

    Plateau United welcomed the El-Kanemi Warriors at the Ilorin Township Stadium. After two successive wins, the Warriors were defeated 2:0 in this game. Bernard Ovoke and Saeed Jibrin scored the goals which gave Plateaus United their first win of the season.

    NPFL Group B leaders FC Ifeanyi Ubah played away at the Go Round Krisdera Hotel Stadium, hoping to stay unbeaten three games into the season. And they did after a goalless draw.

    Kano Pillars and Akwa United crossed swords at the General Sani Abacha Stadium.It was the visitors who took the lead when Ndifreke Effiong scored but the Pillars fought back to equalize in the 41st minute, before the break. The game finished 1:1 as there were no goals in the second half.

    The match between the Yobe Stars and Abia Warriors was postponed.

    Kada City played their first match of the season against Gombe United at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium. It turned out to be a solid start to the season as they won 2:1. Umar Mohammad scored the first goal for Kada City in the 19th minute, but, only a minute later, Gombe levelled the score. Ibrahim Enesi was the scorer. Still, Kada City restored their lead just before the end of the first half through Sadiq Suleiman. This was enough to give them an important triumph in the opening match of the season.
