Nigeria-born rising star Samuel Edozie set to join Manchester City

Nigeria-born rising star Samuel Edozie set to join Manchester City

Samuel Edozie is on the verge of signing of signing a deal with Premier League giants Manchester City. Despite being on Chelsea’s radar in 2019, the teenage Millwall winger has reportedly decided to join the Premier League champions. The deal has yet to be confirmed, but there is every chance the young talent will wear sky blue shirt in the future. The 16-year-old is expected to go straight into the Manchester City U18 team when he officially joins the club.

    £2 million deal

Seeing that Man City boss Pep Guardiola often relies on young and talented footballers, it is no surprise Man City chiefs decided to sign Samuel Edozie from Millwall. The pacey starlet is set to sign for the Citizens for an initial £600,000, but the deal could rise to £2 million after add-ons. Several Bundesliga teams, including Bayern Munchen and Borussia Dortmund, showed interest to sign the Nigeria-born player, but he eventually committed his future to the Etihad Stadium outfit. Millwall wanted Samuel Edozie to stay, offering him the scholarship terms, but he couldn’t resist the tempting Man City offer.

    New Raheem Sterling?

Over the years Raheem Sterling has established himself as one of the best Manchester City players. Scoring 17 goals for the Citizens in the 2018/2019 Premier League season and providing 12 assists for his teammates, Sterling played key role in Pep Guardiola’s team and he is expected to shine in the forthcoming season as well. Considering that Pep Guardiola already has the likes of Leroy Sane, Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez at his disposal in the wide positions, Samuel Edozie is undisputedly a long-term investment, but many football experts see him as new Raheem Sterling. A bright future is ahead of the Nigeria-born winger, but he will have to fight tooth and nail in every single training if he is to write the history in the Premier League.

The Blues unlucky to sign Edozie

Despite being determined to bring Samuel Edozie to Stamford Bridge, Chelsea chiefs eventually failed to persuade the teenage sensation to join the capital club. Seeing that Edozie played for Millwall U18 and U19 teams last term despite his tender age, Chelsea gave 100% to sign the winger, but, as things stand now, he will feature in Man City’s academy next season before any loan moves are discussed. The Blues’ last try to tempt Edozie to Stamford Bridge occurred on June 21 when they introduced Samuel Edozie to Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who acted as an example of the potential path to first-team football. Loftus-Cheek came through Chelsea academy to star enjoying the Premier League football, but Edozie’s desire to join Man City was obviously too strong.

Alex Iwobi backs Man City to win Premier League

Arsenal winger Alex Iwobi, who represents the Super Eagles at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, believes that Manchester City are going to defend their Premier League trophy next season. The pacey footballer has tipped Man City to win their third consecutive title and you should know that the Citizens are 4/6 at 888sport to go all the way in the English top flight in the 2019/2020. “It’s hard to say right now whether Man City are going to dominate, but they could be favourites, considering they won it again”, he said. Alex Iwobi has yet to open his goal-scoring account at the 2019 AFCON, but he is likely to start for Nigeria when the Super Eagles kick-off the knockout stages.
