Japan have very little history when it comes to the World Cup having first qualified for the tournament in 1998. However, the Japanese have qualified for every World Cup since and have twice reached the Round of 16. A similar outcome in this tournament would be regarded a success. Senegal matched Japan, winning their opening Group H by defeating Poland 2-1. It was not a great game to watch and Senegal took advantage of some poor Polish defending to score the two goals they needed for the win. Senegal did not play great football and may need to raise their game a little in this match as they relied upon a poor Polish display more than their own creativity to score the goals.
