France started the World Cup in Group C along with Australia, Peru and Denmark. Despite not looking convincing in each of their three games, France topped the group with narrow wins over Australia and Peru and a 0-0 draw with Denmark. The French team came alive in the knockout stages, playing some great football to defeat Argentina 4-3, producing a solid display to beat Uruguay 2-0 and delivering a good, all-round performance to win the semi-final 1-0 against Belgium.
Croatia
Croatia were drawn in a tough group and did will to win all three matches against Nigeria, Argentina and Iceland. The 3-0 win over Argentina is what gave them the belief they could go far in this tournament but having been held by both Denmark and Russia in the Round of 16 and quarter-final respectively, Croatia won on penalties. The semi-final was seemingly heading the same way but a goal from Mandzukic in the second half of extra-time sealed a famous victory.

France come into the 2018 World Cup final as the clear favourites with the bookmakers, priced at 1.95. The French have enjoyed the easiest path through to the final, without the need of extra-time and will be well rested ahead of the game.
