Dota 2 tournament | The International 2019 Main Event

    Group Stages

There were no too many major scalps in the group stages of The International 2019, with favourites proving their worth at the start of the Dota 2 tournament. Both PSG.LGD and Team were the dominant forces in Group A, whereas OG clinched top place in Group B without any difficulties.

Team Liquid and Fnatic, on the other hand, have been struggling at The International 2019 as they failed to book their place in top four of the winner’s bracket.

These are the results of the group stages of the Dota 2 tournament:

    Group A

Both Chaos Esports Club and Ninjas in Pajamas failed to beat the odds as they finished the process in last position in their respective groups. Given the lack of high-profile players in their rosters, it is no wonder each team won three maps, while losing thirteen. PSG.LGD, Team Secret, TNC Predator and Newbee are the teams that made it to the winner’s bracket of the main event.

Team Liquid’s performances at the tournament have been anything but good and the team that clinched seventh place in the group stages is considered one of the biggest disappointments of The International 2019. The North American organization, on the other hand, proved their worth in the group stages, with the team winning top position in their group. They are considered one of the best teams in the world, but they will have to be at their sharpest in the remainder of the competition if they are to win the title.  It has to be noted that a win over Team Secret helped them cement top position in Group B.

    Group B

There were a number of entertaining clashes in Group B at the International 2019. Despite suffering a loss to Chinese Vici Gaming team, OG eventually clinched top position in the standings, three points clear of the Chinese team.

Vici Gaming suffered a loss to Evil Geniuses, which was the main reason why they finished second. Both Evil Geniuses and Virtus.pro made it to the winner’s bracket as well as they secured a top-four finish in Group B. The likes of Infamous, Fnatic, Natus Vincere, Royal Never Give Up and Ninjas in Pyjamas failed to secure a top-four finish.

Team Liquid face an uphill task in the next round as they failed to make it to the winner’s bracket. However, the North American organization should never be written off just yet as there is still a plenty of room for improvement. Team Liquid recorded only two wins in the group stages, with the team beating the likes of Chaos Esports Club and Keen Gaming, but they are widely expected to find their best form in the play-offs.

    Play-offs

The International 2019 play-offs take place on Tuesday. A place in the next round of the prestigious Dota tournament will be at stake when Group A and Group B teams face each other in six qualifying matches. The two remaining qualifying games of round 1 and the first two matches of the next round are scheduled for Wednesday. It is important to note that the teams from the winner’s bracket will have advantage in the final rounds of the competition.
