Brazil vs Belgium | Prediction, Betting Tips & Odds

Is there any better sight in world football than seeing Brazil in action?  Their yellow shirts bring back great memories of top teams and players of World Cup past and the current crop of Brazilian players are aiming to add one more star to their jersey.  This could be the World Cup which sees them make it six wins. Belgium have yet to win the World Cup but this could be their year.  Only once have they progressed beyond the quarter-final stage of the tournament and that was back in 1986.  They lost to a Diego Maradona inspired Argentina and will be hoping they do not meet a Neymar inspired Brazil in this match.

    Match Preview

Brazil have arguably been the most consistent team at the 2018 World Cup.  They have not shown the same amount of flair and creativity of previous Brazilian World Cup winning teams but have placed more emphasis on their defence.  So far it has worked and the Brazilian public will not care if it sees them through this game. Belgium have been very entertaining to watch in Russia but cannot afford to allow Brazil too many chances in this game.  Belgium will be at full strength and have some fantastic attacking options of their own and will provide the biggest test Brazil have received at the 2018 World Cup.

    Brazil

Brazil started slowly with a draw against Switzerland and two late goals to defeat Costa Rica.  The match against Serbia saw Brazil produce their best display of the tournament to win 2-0 and they met Mexico in the round of 16.  Brazil did not allow Mexico any good goal scoring opportunities and recorded another comfortable 2-0 win to reach the quarter-final.

    Belgium

Belgium sailed through their group without too much difficulty.  Having defeated Panama 3-0, they demolished Tunisia 5-2 before defeating England 1-0 with a mainly reserve team to finish top of the group.  This saw them meet Japan and in the Round of 16 and with the scores 0-0 in the second half, Japan shocked the world by scoring two goals.  However, Belgium fought back to win the match 3-2 in stoppage time and break Japanese hearts.

Brazil vs Belgium Head to Head

Brazil and Belgium have met 4 times in their history, with Brazil coming out on top in three of them.  Their latest meeting was back in the 2002 World Cup when Brazil won 2-0 in the Round of 16 through goals from Rivaldo and Ronaldo.

    Odds and Predictions

Brazil are the current favourites to win the 2018 World Cup, so naturally they come into this match as the favourites to win.  Brazil have looked comfortable in their most recent games and are priced at 2.10 to win the match. However, Belgium will provide their toughest test of the tournament and with their quality, cannot be underestimated in this game.  The Red Devils offer good value at 3.75 to win the game and the draw is also available at 3.50. Brazil managed to see off the threat of Mexico, who have looked good at times in this World Cup.  Given their attacking talent, Belgium should offer more going forward and this game will see the Brazilian defence tested to the limit.  Brazil to win and both teams to score is 4.33. Neymar is frustrating many fans with his playacting but no one can deny his talent and he scored the crucial first goal against Mexico in the Round of 16.  The Paris Saint-Germain forward will be Brazil’s main attacking threat in this game and Neymar is 5.00 to open the scoring.  Belgium will be looking towards Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku to get their goals and the striker is 5.50 to score the first goal of the match.

Brazil vs Belgium Top Betting Tip: Brazil (2-1)

Belgium have some of the best players in the world in their squad yet the game against Japan showed they are still vulnerable, especially in defensive situations.  Brazil have looked solid at the back for much of this tournament and although they may find a clean sheet difficult to come by in this game they should have enough to get through to the semi-final.
