Belgium vs Tunisia | Prediction, Betting Tips & Odds

Belgium have been touted as potential major tournament winners for the past three events.  Much was expected of them at the 2014 World Cup and they failed to deliver.  The same happened at the 2016 European Championships and time is running out for this talented group of Belgian players. Tunisia are playing in their fifth World Cup finals but have never qualified from the group stages.  They have been handed a tough draw and have previously won only one match from the 13 they have played.  Qualifying from the group is a tough ask for this Tunisia team.

    Match Preview

Belgium have a hugely talented squad, with players operating at the top European clubs.  Their main issue has been coming together and operating well as a team.  Marc Wilmots failed to get the best out of them and now it’s up to Roberto Martinez to show what he can do.  The Red Devils are expected to win this match and attention will turn to the decisive match against England. Tunisia know they must at least take a point from this game to have any chance of reaching the Round of 16.  They have some good players in their squad, who have plenty of experience at international level but the quality does not match that of their opponents.

    Belgium

Belgium found it hard going in the first half of their opening group game against Panama.  They struggled to break down the defence and their attacking play was slow and deliberate, which played into the hands of Panama.  However, a fantastic goal from Dries Mertens opened the scoring and Belgium added two more good goals to seal the win.  Belgium will be confident of producing more of the same in this match.

    Tunisia

Tunisia gave a good account of themselves in their first Group G match against England.  It looked as though they were going to hold out for a point but conceded a goal late in the game to Harry Kane.  England created the majority of the chances but Tunisia showed a stubbornness to keep themselves in the match and equalise from the penalty spot.  However, they must play better in the first 30 minutes of this match or Belgium could be out of reach by half-time.

Belgium vs Tunisia Head to Head

Belgium and Tunisia have met three times previously, with the honours even.  Belgium won the most recent match 1-0, which was a friendly in 2014, while their only meeting at a World Cup ended in a 1-1 draw back in 2002.  Tunisia won the first meeting between the teams 2-1 in 1992.

    Odds and Predictions

Belgium come into this game on the back of a 3-0 win over Panama, in which they scored 3 excellent goals. They will be confident of doing more of the same in this match and the bookmakers feel they should win with ease.  Belgium are 1.33 to win the match.  Tunisia have been given little hope and are available 11.00, with draw on offer at 5.50. Belgium have some of the best attacking talent at the tournament and will be looking to add to their 3 goals from the first game. If they get an early goal, do not be surprised to see them match their tally from the win over Panama.  Belgium are 5.50 to win the game by 3 goals. Dries Mertens opened the scoring against Panama and the Napoli forward can be backed at 5.50 to score the first goal, with Tunisia’s top scorer, Wahbi Khazri available at 15.00

Belgium vs Tunisia Top Betting Tip: Belgium win (3-0)

Belgium will be aiming to maintain their level from the second half against Panama.  If they can do that from the off in this match, expect to see them win the game comfortably and secure their place at the top of Group G.
